Applications in government and authorities

High-precision geodata support the public sector in planning and approval processes and make municipal projects transparent for decision-makers and residents.

Orthophoto of the old town of Chur with roofs, lanes and parasols

Up-to-date geodata for the whole municipality

Periodic photo flights secure a complete, high-resolution data basis for the entire municipal area. True orthophotos and textured 3D meshes can be integrated directly into municipal geoportals and are available to the administration, specialist planners and the public.

Spatial planning in the 3D city model

Planned buildings and infrastructure projects are placed correctly in the photorealistic digital twin and checked for how well they fit their surroundings. Visualisation in the 3D mesh or as a spatial projection allows sound comparisons of variants and analyses of sight lines in the real context.

Participation and public involvement

Photorealistic 3D models and Gaussian splats convey complex building projects in their real context, without any prior knowledge of planning law. At municipal assemblies, information events and in participation procedures they encourage an objective dialogue and reduce reservations.

Location marketing and site development

For economic development and tourism we deliver dimensionally accurate 3D geodata for the interactive presentation of commercial zones and development sites. Experienced in a web browser, the data show the potential of the location to investors, companies and residents.

Urban development in controlled airspace

We also carry out flights in demanding zones such as the control zones of aerodromes (CTR) or above densely populated areas. We take care of the entire permit management and coordinate the operation with Skyguide and the authorities.

Thermal orthomosaic of a farm with sheds and a field, warm surfaces appear bright and cool ones dark

Urban climate and energy analysis of neighbourhoods

Radiometric thermal images locate urban heat islands, poorly insulated roofs and losses from pipes across the whole area. The raster data give towns and municipalities an objective basis for measures on climate adaptation and energy planning.

As-built documentation of public buildings

For schools, administrative buildings and depots with incomplete plans we create high-precision as-built 3D models. The georeferenced data are a reliable basis for refurbishment planning, space programmes and digital facility management.

Why Geotrend

What you can expect from us

Up to date when you need it

We fly your area exactly on the date your project requires. That gives you a current and dependable basis for planning.

Everything captured at once

Orthophotos, 3D meshes, Gaussian splats and elevation data come from the same flight. All results match geometrically.

Seamless interoperability

We deliver optimised data formats for municipal geoportals, ArcGIS, Cesium or spatial projections. All datasets are referenced correctly in LV95.

Data kept in Switzerland

Processing and storage take place exclusively on our own servers in Switzerland. Your geodata stay protected and confidential at all times.

Frequently asked questions

Is the free data from swisstopo not sufficient?

For an overview, SWISSIMAGE and swissBUILDINGS3D provide good orientation, but they quickly reach systematic limits where construction activity, timing and accuracy are concerned. A flight commissioned for your project delivers data for a specific date in the centimetre range, finely resolved true orthophotos and photorealistically textured 3D meshes for demanding planning.

Do you work together with surveyors and GIS service providers?

Yes, we act as a complementary data partner for surveyors responsible for updating the cadastre and for GIS operators. We agree interfaces, coordinate reference systems and tiling schemes directly with your partners, so that the data can be imported without extra manual work.

Which flight intervals make sense for municipalities?

The ideal frequency depends on local building activity and on the update cycles of your specialist registers. Towns and fast-growing municipalities update their datasets at short intervals, to keep a dependable basis for planning in the geoportal at all times.

Do you also work in steep and difficult terrain in the mountain cantons?

Yes. With drones and helicopters we are ideally equipped for steep and demanding terrain, for example in Graubünden, Valais, the Bernese Oberland or Central Switzerland. Our own flight planning software is designed for such terrain and safeguards the quality, so that the requirements for resolution and accuracy are met even on steep slopes and in narrow valleys.
